That’s right the votes are in! It had been really close between Say What You Will and Young Elites, but the winner is……
SAY WHAT YOU WILL by Cammie McGovern!
I saw this somewhere when book suggestions were being thrown around, and I figured it would be a great contemporary read! If you haven’t already, here is the goodreads summary that gives you a taste of what we will be reading!
John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars meets Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor & Park in this beautifully written, incredibly honest, and emotionally poignant novel. Cammie McGovern’s insightful young adult debut is a heartfelt and heartbreaking story about how we can all feel lost until we find someone who loves us because of our faults, not in spite of them. Born with cerebral palsy, Amy can’t walk without a walker, talk without a voice box, or even fully control her facial expressions. Plagued by obsessive-compulsive disorder, Matthew is consumed with repeated thoughts, neurotic rituals, and crippling fear. Both in desperate need of someone to help them reach out to the world, Amy and Matthew are more alike than either ever realized. When Amy decides to hire student aides to help her in her senior year at Coral Hills High School, these two teens are thrust into each other’s lives. As they begin to spend time with each other, what started as a blossoming friendship eventually grows into something neither expected.
I will be starting discussions and all kinds of fun stuff on July 28th. If anyone participating would like to create their own post that pertains to Say What You Will, I would really appreicate it. Just let me know what you have in mind, and I will reblog and post a link so everyone here can see it. It seems like the best buddy reads have people participating and giving their opinions! Once you start getting into the book, you will more than likely find many topics that can be discussed.
Make sure to follow me on twitter @findmeinlibrary so you can see the announcements I make about the buddy read! If possible, I may even give some facts/trivia questions about the book.
You have around two weeks to get this book read! As I said before in other posts, since this is my first ever experience with a buddy read, I’m still working out the kinks. Next time, there will be more time and activities planned. Since this is a test run, all feedback is greatly appreciated, so I can improve for next time!
